Photosynthetic membranes and organelles
Photosynthesis requires the following resources; Carbon Dioxide, Water and light.
Appendix A – Photosynthesis and Visible Light
Photoautotrophsuse sunlight as a source of energy and through the process of photosynthesis, reduce carbon dioxide to form carbohydrates such as glucose. The radient energy is converted to the chemical bond energy within glucose and other organic molecules.

Hypothesis:Photosynthesis is a process by which green plants and certain other organisms use the energy of light to convert carbon dioxide and water into the simple sugar glucose....
Prediction : I predict that as I increase the distance between the light source and the Canadian Pondweed (reducing the light intensity), the volume of oxygen produced within the time limit (the measure of the rate of photosynthesis) will decrease.

There are four things that are required by the plant before it can carry out photosynthesis, they are light, chlorophyll, carbon dioxide and water ....
The exergonic light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis convert light energy into chemical energy, producing ATP and NADPH. These reactions occur in the thylakoids of the chloroplasts. The products of the light-dependent reactions, ATP and NADPH, are both required for the endergonic light-independent reactions.

Variables: The variables that might affect the rate of photosynthesis in this experiment are: Temperature: When the temperature rises so does the rate of photosynthesis; this is because as the temperature around the plant rises the enzymes controlling photosynthesis inside the chloroplasts heat up and start moving around faster, the fast moving molecules collide with other fast moving enzymes causing them to react....

Photosynthesis is composed of two stages: the light-dependent reactions and the light-independent reactions. We will now look at the light-dependent reactions.
IB Biology: Photosynthesis And Cellular Respiration
n this article, I have described how the light from a source can be characterized by the distribution of the photons that emanate from it. Two mathematically equivalent plots - one using the power density distribution at each wavelength and the other using numbers of photons - can be used to show the distribution as a spectral plot. The light available for photosynthesis is termed PAR, and is typically measured as PPFD (photosynthetic photon flux density) with units of micromoles/m/sec. Using just the PPFD number gives us information only about the number of photons in the 400-700nm range but does not tell us anything about their spectral distribution. Two lamps with the same PPFD can have very different spectral distributions. Additionally, the PPFD measurements can be compared only if the distances at which the measurements are taken are the same. However, given that light follows the Inverse Square Law, we can compute PPFD at different distances if we know it at one particular distance.
Light and Dark Reactions in Photosynthesis Written by tutor Kathie Z
The most common light-dependent reaction in photosynthesis is called noncyclic photophosphorylation. Noncyclic photophosphorylation involves both Photosystem I and Photosystem II and produces ATP and NADPH. During noncyclic photophosphorylation, the generation of ATP is coupled to a one-way flow of electrons from H2O to NADP+.

The next article in the series will discuss other measurements of light that you may have seen such as Lux and Lumens and how they relate to measurements of light for photosynthesis.
