Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt Thesis Statements …

We spend a lot of time thinking about what life would be like if we were immortal, but would eternal life really be all it's cracked up to be? According to Tuck, not so much. In fact, he thinks that "'You can't have living without dying'" (12.10). He'd probably say that, if you could live forever, none of those awesome activities we want to do would be once-in-a-lifetime. And isn't that part of the fun? Seriously, we're asking.

Tuck Everlasting is a children ‘s book written by Natalie Babbitt and published.

Love - The last theme is that of love. Behind the actions of all the characters except the Man in the Yellow Suit is adeep-seated love for their families, their friends, and most importantly, humanity. The Tucks could easily haverevealed the secret of the spring and profited from it, but chose instead to accept their fate and protect the worldfrom the destruction the secret would have caused. They also, in spite of the fact that they come to hate their inability to die, accept that they must find some way to be of importance in the world in which they will liveforever. Like the Tucks, Winnie has love and compassion for her family for the Tucks, her friends, and even forthe little Toad to which she gives eternal life. In her metamorphosis, she comes to see how important it is to beunselfish and help those who need it most. In the end, that’s why she chooses life and death rather thanimmortality. She loves Jesse, but she obviously loved the idea of being a wife and a mother more.

His wearing a yellow suit is symbolic of cowardice. He is not a brave, upstanding individual. He's a coward and a bully who uses the Fosters and the Tucks to achieve his own ends. His violent death symbolizes how greed leads only misfortune.

Do the right thing, even if it is unpopular - The theme of the ability to understand what is the right thing to do and to act upon it even if it is not the popular choice. Winnie knew she had to help Mae escape the prison, because it was the right thing to do even though she could get into terrible trouble and the Tucks could be hurt. This has an important impact on the lesson the author wants to teach - we owe it to be kind and generous to our fellow human beings.

Moral Judgement / Values - The theme of moral judgment can also be seen in the decisions the Tucks have made all these years that they have been immortal and especially Mae’s decision to take another life to save humanity from the consequences of eternal life. Then, Winnie must use her moral judgment to break Mae out of prison even though it makes her an accessory to a crime. All of these characters are forced into decisions, which on the surface seem morally wrong, but underneath are the only decisions they could make.
